Why do you think it is important to study diversity and inclusion?
I believe studying diversity and inclusion is fundamental to fostering positive environments of growth which comprehensively meet the needs of people from various backgrounds and walks of life. Perhaps even more importantly, I believe that through expanding our knowledge in this subject area we are not only better able to aid in serving many often underrepresented communities, but also to celebrate and uplift them in a conducive and holistic manner, leading to positive outcomes.
Describe a time you felt socially connected to UCLA?
My experience as a community college student directly informs how I navigate life at UCLA today. Like other transfers, the transition into UCLA was not one I could have prepared myself for. I have since found strength and support however, among fellow transfer students, such as through bonding with others over our various and yet shared experiences, ultimately reaffirming my belief in the power of community.
